At EU level, the reuse and recycling rates of waste plastics are still very low. In order to strengthen plastics in a Circular Economy, the ‚EU Plastics Strategy‘ demands concrete political measures.
At the national level, the Packaging Act, which comes into force on 1.1.2019, obliges systems according to § 21 (1) to the ecological organisation of participation fees. Among other things, incentives should be created to support the use of recyclates and of renewable raw materials in the production of packaging.
The recyclate label is awarded for the use of certified recycled plastics (according to EuCertPlast) or from the producer owned return systems (after on-site testing) in the requested product (finished products/packaging).
The labelling of the recycled content is already possible from the use of 5 % recycled plastic (post-consumer recyclate). We determine the composition of the product according to your product descriptions, material lists and stored formulations as well as a plausibility check of the total quantity balance.
After a positive test result, we issue a certificate for the right to use of the trade mark. The certificate and associated use of the sign is valid for one year and can be extended by annual follow-up audits.
